We attended our first workshop in March 2015. Due to the fact that we were living with my mother, we had no history of paying rent.  Therefore, we were asked to begin saving as if we were paying rent with an amount we could afford.  After adjusting our spending habits and budgeting, budgeting, budgeting, we were pre-qualified.  NACA’s financial counseling taught us how to save for the home of our dreams while also enjoying ourselves.  We learned how to get creative with our budgeting and spending habits.  We sacrificed a lot of our end goal of becoming homeowners.  The guidance and support from the staff and counselors made all the difference.  Without a program like NACA we don’t think we could have achieved our dream.
