For all of my adult life, I’ve wanted to own a home, but I didn’t see a clear path to home ownership available to me. In 2014, a friend of mine told me about NACA. I thought it might be too good to be true or that there must be a catch of some kind, but I went to the workshop anyway. When I left, I was still unsure. It was almost a year before I scheduled my first meeting with a counselor. During that year, two of my friends were approved by NACA. And, while I was preparing to submit my application for approval, both of those friends closed on houses through NACA. The best path toward home ownership became very clear to me. Owning a home stopped being something I daydreamed about. Instead, it was an attainable goal that I was working toward, because I finally saw it was a possibility.  After my application was approved, I found my home within 90 days. My NACA counselor and realtor helped me close on a home in exactly the area I wanted to live in. I purchased my house at a 2.75% interest rate, and I took advantage of using NACA’s repair program. NACA’s HAND department walked me through the renovation process, and now I’m living in (and loving) my first home. For me, NACA was the best path to home ownership, and I believe that’s the case for many people who want to realize the American Dream. I’m grateful to NACA for helping me become a home owner, and I will continue to promote NACA as the best option for home ownership to my friends and others I encounter.
