When I started looking at mortgages, I was not so much bothered by the rates but by the fact that my husband and I would have to pay private mortgage insurance because we couldn’t afford to put down 20% in an expensive housing market. It seemed like banks wouldn’t trust us to pay our mortgage even though our credit history was fine, and we would be wasting hundreds of dollars a month. When my brother told me about the NACA program and I attended the workshop, I was hooked. It was a long and occasionally frustrating process, but we are very happy we stuck with NACA to get a house we love at a mortgage rate we love and no PMI. Thank you to Howard from the NACA DC office and to our real estate agent Aissa for encouraging and helping us with every step in the home-buying process. We love our cute little blue house for our growing family!
